Caught On Camera – Portland, Oregon Family Saved From Home Invader By Their Dogs

Go Get Him!

Jen Merrill and her dogs were sitting in her back yard relaxing Monday afternoon when a man suddenly jumped two six-foot fences and entered her yard. Little did he know, the entire incident was being recorded with Jen’s security cameras.

Merrill has four large dogs – two Great Danes, an American bulldog-Great Dane mix and a malamute – and she was also dog-sitting a German shepherd.

The dogs went crazy when they saw the intruder and got between her and the man as she yelled at him to leave.

He didn’t seem to care. He just mumbled something, waved her off and kept heading for the house. He jumped into a window well and tried to get into the house through a basement window. This guy was bold!

“I put the kids into the garage and I locked the door up here so they were locked inside and then I told the dogs, ‘Go get him,’ you know?” she recalled.

They did just that. Thirty seconds later, her cameras caught the man running away toward a neighbor’s yard.

She joined the kids in the garage and watched a surveillance system monitor until the police arrived.

Police searched the entire neighborhood but couldn’t find him. Merril told police she thought the guy looked and acted like he was on drugs.

She describes the suspect as a white man in his early 20’s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall with red hair and sores on his face. If you know anything that can help with this investigation, contact Portland police.

Thank God she had those big dogs. Who knows what may have happened if she didn’t.
